By the grace of God, the opening service of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first missionaries in Madagascar was held on Sunday 26th of May, at EEM Santa Paoly Ambatoharanana.

This special event, which was under the leadership of the Bishops in the Malagasy Episcopal Church, was attended by clergies and representatives from all the dioceses in Madagascar.

A delegation of dignitaries from the State led by the Representative from the Malagasy Government and from the Malagasy Senate, and invited guests from other denominations also honoured the occasion.

Christians also came in large numbers, including representatives from all the different dioceses, came together to worship and give glory to God for such a special occasion in the life of the church.
During this time, the monument was dedicated to commemorate this important moment in the history of our Anglican Church in Madagascar.

According to the Anniversary Committee, another national celebration will be held in the Diocese of Toamasina in August as it is the point of entry where missionaries first began their work.
